Kilometer Zero

Kilometer Zero is an international collective of artists and writers who met in Paris through George Whitman’s Shakespeare & Company bookstore in the year 2000. We publish a magazine, produce theatre and performance art, host shows and events, and engage in political debate.

Since the project’s conception, we have published five magazines that are distributed commercially in the United States and carried by independent bookstores in 14 other countries; held more than 60 of our celebrated ‘Venues' which present new art, literature and music in cabaret style settings; presented theatre, mixed media and performance art in London, Paris, New York, Amsterdam, Prague, and Beijing; and organized political movements in Paris and the United States.

For two years, the project operated out of art squats in Paris first ‘In Fact', then ‘Le Gousset Vide’. The collective now operates as an international network for project-driven activities.

Kilometer Zero is a non-profit association registered in Paris, France, and is run by an elected board of directors.
